🇮🇳 India's IT sector just quietly hit a turning point and almost nobody is reading the actual numbers right.


AI hiring is up 16-25% year over year. Sounds like good news. It isn't.
Overall IT hiring is down 3%. Net headcount fell over 23,000 this year. TCS alone cut 12,000 jobs and said out loud they want an equal number of AI agents and human employees.
Here's the part that should worry you if you're a fresh graduate in India. Entry-level hiring is down 44%. Senior-level is down 67%. The middle of the career ladder, the roles that turned engineering degrees into homes, cars, and a stable middle class for two decades, is disappearing fastest.
This isn't AI creating new jobs alongside old ones. It's AI replacing volume hiring with a small number of specialized roles that most of the existing workforce was never trained for.
10 to 15 million people built their entire economic mobility on this industry. The ladder they climbed is being removed from underneath the next generation in real time.
