Malaysian police uncovered an electricity theft mining case in the Port Klang Free Zone, and 2 people were arrested.
South Klang police raided a warehouse in the Port Klang Free Zone on July 3, uncovering a case involving electricity theft used for cryptocurrency mining. Two people were implicated: a 20-year-old local man and a 31-year-old foreign national; their equipment was seized. The case is being investigated under Article 427 of the Penal Code and Section 37(1) of the Electricity Act 1990. Upon conviction, the maximum penalty is imprisonment of up to 5 years, a fine, or both. The two suspects will be further remanded for 4 days from July 4 to July 7 to assist with investigations.
