CoinWorld News, according to The Star, police in South Klang, Malaysia conducted a raid at a warehouse in the Port Klang Free Zone at around 9:30 am on July 3, uncovering a case of suspected electricity theft for cryptocurrency mining. Police said a local man and a foreigner were arrested during the operation, aged 20 and 31 respectively, and equipment used for cryptocurrency mining at the scene was also seized. The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code and Section 37(1) of the Electricity Supply Act 1990; the former carries a maximum penalty of 5 years imprisonment, a fine, or both, while the latter carries a maximum penalty of 5 years imprisonment, a maximum fine of 100k ringgit, or both. Police have obtained a remand order, and the two suspects will be remanded for 4 days starting July 4 until July 7 to assist in further investigations.
