CoinWorld news: Micron Technology has officially launched the expansion project for its Western Japan factory. The project’s total investment is about 1.5 trillion yen (about $9 billion), which will be used to produce advanced memory chips. This expansion is part of Micron’s global capacity expansion plan, aiming to meet the needs of the artificial intelligence industry. The Japanese government will provide subsidies of up to 5000 billion yen to help share the construction costs. The expanded facility is expected to begin production and ship around the summer of 2028, helping Micron improve the energy efficiency and data transmission efficiency of the chips required for AI services and autonomous vehicles.
