This development comes shortly after OpenAI unveiled its own custom inference chip initiative, suggesting that competition is expanding beyond software and into the semiconductor layer. Anthropic has also strengthened its engineering team by hiring Clive Chan, a key contributor to OpenAI's original custom chip project, reinforcing its long-term commitment to AI infrastructure.
