Shenchao TechFlow news: On July 03, news emerged from the Korea Printed Circuit Board & Semiconductor Packaging Industry Association (KPCA) that Samsung and SK Hynix, due to their dissatisfaction with upstream substrate makers that have been frequently raising prices because of market supply shortages, plan to request substrate manufacturers to lower prices. In the latest price negotiations with substrate suppliers, they asked the substrate manufacturers to reduce their quotes, with the intention of withdrawing this year’s average quoted price increase of approximately 3%~4% in Q1.

It is understood that Samsung and SK Hynix are advocating for lower quotes because, at the beginning of this year, due to increases in raw materials such as gold and copper, Samsung and SK Hynix accepted a price increase of about 3%~4% from substrate manufacturers. However, as raw material prices have recently stabilized and the factors driving the price increases have disappeared, they believe that quotes for the second half of the year should also return to the level before the price hikes.
