Jinse Finance reported that on July 3, U.S. Vice President JD Vance said in an interview that the United States plans to use a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Iran to supplement global oil supply and reserve room for potential future military operations.
Vance said in the interview, "I think what the President is asking us to do is to use this MoU to, to some extent, 'restock' the global oil system, restore some reserves, and then see how the situation develops."
He further explained that there are two possible paths for the U.S. policy toward Iran. On one hand, if Iran is willing to make commitments that meet U.S. expectations and implement them through verifiable phased goals, "we will change our relationship with Iran." On the other hand, if the relevant conditions cannot be met, "then there will be virtually no change, except for the results we have already achieved through military actions—and those results are quite significant."
Vance added, "We have two options: one is to push for a long-term agreement with Iran, but that would require a significant change in its behavior; the other is to consolidate the existing results and take further action when the President deems it necessary. Both options are currently under consideration."
