US Initial Jobless Claims Fall, Companies Still Avoid Mass Layoffs

Jin10 Data July 2 News, last week's US initial jobless claims fell slightly as companies continue to avoid mass layoffs. The US Department of Labor said Thursday that initial jobless claims for the week ending June 27 were 215k, below market expectations of 220k, while the previous week's report was 216k. Continuing claims for the week ending June 20 were 215k. According to the latest employment situation report released by the US Department of Labor, the US added 57k jobs in June. However, given that recent jobless claims are relatively low, it indicates that companies are not laying off workers at an alarming rate.
