ME News reported that on April 24 (UTC+8), according to a U.S. Department of Justice announcement, the DOJ Fraud Center Strike Task Force announced a major action against Southeast Asian fraud organizations, charging two Chinese nationals with managing a Myanmar scam compound, seizing over $700 million in cryptocurrency, and taking down a Telegram channel and 503 scam websites. The accused "Huang Xing Saan" and "Jiang Wen Jie" served as administrators at the Shunda compound in Min Let Pan, Myanmar, forcing trafficked workers to defraud Americans through fake investment platforms. After the compound was raided by Myanmar armed forces in November 2025, the two moved to Cambodia to continue operations and were later arrested in Thailand. The task force for the first time took down a Telegram recruitment channel with over 6,000 followers, which lured people to Cambodia with fake high-paying jobs and forced them to impersonate JPMorgan Chase customer service agents, New York police officers, and others to commit fraud. The FBI's Operation Level Up has identified and notified 8,935 victims of cryptocurrency investment fraud, estimated to have saved victims approximately $563 million. (Source: PANews)
