ME News, May 21 (UTC+8), Christopher Giancarlo, former chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission and an early advocate for digital assets, will join Jefferies Financial Group in July as a senior advisor focused on investment banking. Giancarlo stated that he hopes to leverage his network as a former regulator to connect market participants, thereby benefiting Jefferies' banking business. Giancarlo, 67, witnessed the launch of the first bitcoin futures contracts at the Chicago Board Options Exchange and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) during his tenure as CFTC chairman. While in office, he advocated for a more constructive regulatory approach to cryptocurrencies, at a time when Washington's mainstream was generally skeptical of the emerging industry.
