ME AI News, recently, around 20 domestic and international chipmakers, including Infineon, Texas Instruments, and STMicroelectronics, have collectively launched a new round of price increases. Power semiconductors are the core category involved in this latest wave of price hikes, and multiple manufacturers have already announced pricing adjustments this year. Infineon is the world’s largest power semiconductor manufacturer. On June 30, Pan Dawei, Senior Vice President of Infineon globally and President of Greater China, responded to reporters at the company’s media day about the new round of price increases, saying: “This price increase is mainly due to factors related to rising costs, such as increases in raw material prices.” Strong demand for power semiconductors is, to a large extent, driven by AI, especially the sharp surge in electricity demand from AI data centers. “At present, Infineon’s AI business production capacity will be dynamically and flexibly adjusted and allocated according to market demand, and we will continuously expand into new capacity,” the company said.
