ME News, May 21 (UTC+8): According to Beating monitoring, a well-known developer Theo (t3.gg) released a video exposing the absurd political infighting within Google’s AI team. He said that the original Gemini CLI team had actively listened to community feedback and was committed to building excellent open-source solutions, but after Google funded the recruitment of the Windsurf founders’ team to develop a new product called “Antigravity,” the team’s hard work was completely scrapped, and core personnel were sidelined. More ironically, the Antigravity client that Google had high hopes for not only frequently rendered models ineffective and wasted Tokens, but also pixel-by-pixel copied the UI of direct competitor Codex. Even in an official demo video, it accidentally revealed a development folder named “Codex.” Theo said bluntly that this kind of internal struggle is driving away truly excellent engineers, ultimately leaving Google able to produce only “AI garbage” that lacks sincerity. In addition to attacking the AI team’s malicious in-fighting, Theo also strongly condemned the extreme unreliability of Google Cloud. He revealed that the deployment platform Railway recently suffered a complete outage due to an absurd internal rate-limiting mechanism on Google Cloud, and that even within Google, no one was aware of the existence of this restriction. He also brought up again the rare incident in 2024 in which the entire cloud account of the large pension fund UniSuper was unexpectedly and completely deleted, sharply criticizing Google Cloud for having no commercial bottom line compared with AWS’s stability and Azure’s proactive response, and strongly advising developers to migrate their businesses out as soon as possible.
