ME News message: On April 24 (UTC+8), ABC News in the U.S., citing sources, reported that U.S. federal authorities arrested a special forces soldier involved in the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on Thursday. The soldier is suspected of profiting more than $400,000 by betting on Maduro’s removal from office.

Sources said that federal investigators believe the commando made bets of more than $33,000 on the prediction market Polymarket just hours before President Trump announced the capture of Maduro in January. The series of bets generated profits of more than $409,000, immediately triggering an internal review within the prediction market and leading to a months-long insider trading investigation.
