Don't get excited about any unrealized gains in the market

Even if you've already closed a position, or withdrawn profits, they are only temporary
If you're still in the market, and if you keep participating, a single impulsive trade at some point can wipe out your previous profits—even profits you've withdrawn may end up back in the account
Therefore, long-term trading profits come from your high-level execution ability; any reckless moves along the way represent real risk.
The best way to measure true profit is to go through a complete bull and bear cycle and see what's left at the end. So don't just drift with the market; have a strategy or a system. A trading system won't let traders capture all market profits; its selectivity is its core. A good trading system will ultimately allow you to retain substantial profits.
