AIMPACT News, May 21 (UTC+8), according to Dongcha Beating's monitoring, Cui Tianyi, former co-founder of quantitative investment firm TSY Capital and a former 9-year veteran at Wall Street quantitative giant Jane Street, officially joined DeepSeek in March this year as the head of its newly formed Harness team, leading the development of a desktop agent product directly competing with Anthropic's Claude Code. During his undergraduate studies, Cui Tianyi won the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest Asia regional gold medal six times, and the development team he previously founded at TSY Capital averages about five ACM-level gold medals per person. DeepSeek internally defines its core product path as "Model + Harness = Agent", categorizing all engineering actions outside the model—such as context management, tool invocation, file reading and writing, terminal execution, and test feedback—under the Harness domain. Prior to this, the developer community had spontaneously produced the open-source terminal project DeepSeek-TUI. This official move aims to reclaim control of the terminal entry point, directly injecting the engineering trial-and-error trajectories from real projects into the underlying model's evolution loop.
