Chainwire news: A new independent nonprofit organization called the Ethereum Institution has been established, aiming to accelerate institutional adoption of Ethereum and its Layer 2 networks. The organization is led by David Walsh, Marius Smith, and Matthew Dawson, with Walsh having previously handled corporate affairs for the Ethereum Foundation. The organization said its mission is to provide a neutral, independent point of contact for institutions to evaluate Ethereum’s applications in tokenization, stablecoins, and other on-chain financial infrastructure. The establishment of the Ethereum Institution comes as the Ethereum Foundation gradually reduces its role in core protocol management, with an increasing number of ecosystem participants forming independent organizations focused on specific areas such as business development, institutional outreach, and developer support. The organization has received support from Bitmine, Nasdaq-listed SharpLink Gaming, and Joseph Rubin, an Ethereum co-founder, and will announce more institutional and individual supporters in the future.

The foundation steps back behind the scenes, and the ecology grows its own hands and feet. This is what a healthy state looks like. Looking forward to more similar organizations emerging.

Layer 2 network adoption is the focus. What institutions care most about now is cost and compliance, not ideology.

The independent non-profit positioning is smart; it's both neutral and able to make money, much more flexible than a foundation.
