According to Criptonoticias, Spanish exchange BitBase announced on June 30, 2026, that it is suspending operations in Spain pending a final decision on its license application submitted under the EU's MiCA regulation. BitBase operates over 30 physical stores and 200 cryptocurrency ATMs in Spain. The company stated that the suspension is temporary and expects a favorable outcome soon. The MiCA regulation comes into full effect on July 1, 2026, requiring all crypto-asset service providers (CASPs) to obtain a license to operate within the EU.
