Abstract generation in progress
ME News, April 24 (UTC+8), Succinct Labs, backed by Paradigm, releases iPhone camera application ZCAM, which generates "digital fingerprints" for photos and videos using cryptography to combat the risk of forgery from AI-generated content. ZCAM can sign images at the moment of capture, creating an immutable record, and binds content to the capture device, allowing users to independently verify whether material comes from a real device, has been tampered with, or was generated by AI. Unlike solutions that rely on AI detection, Succinct chooses to start from the device hardware layer, generating a unique cryptographic signature for each shot. The company says existing AI detection tools are prone to failure, while this approach improves the reliability of authenticity verification. Similar projects include World, which reduces risk by distinguishing real humans from AI identities. (Source: ChainCatcher)
