Many successful big shots talk about grand narratives that do not apply to the grassroots. What you don't see more of is survivorship bias—because they made it out, people believe what they say. It's not that they made it out because what they said was truth; behind it there is too much chance, luck, and fortune. Of course, what they say does have some logic—after all, as big shots, their vision is different from ordinary people, and they can see things that the masses cannot. But if you blindly apply their ideas without understanding, without transforming them into a philosophy that suits yourself, then you are definitely wrong.
