ME News message, April 24 (UTC+8), the UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) released the latest technical report, formally recognizing that Passkeys are superior to traditional passwords, and recommending them as the "preferred login method" for various digital services. NCSC pointed out that Passkeys are based on encryption keys stored on local devices, usually combined with biometric unlocking, and their security is "at least as strong as, and usually stronger than" the strongest passwords combined with two-step verification. NCSC stated that over the past year, issues with compatibility and implementation in the industry have significantly improved. Currently, more than half of UK Google active users have registered Passkeys, and platforms such as eBay and PayPal have also integrated them. Therefore, the agency no longer recommends continuing to use passwords when better alternatives are available. (Source: PANews)
