When conflicts arise between elders and younger generations, the elders should usually bear greater responsibility. Because the younger generation has never been elders, while elders have all been young before. The most terrifying part of many family disputes is not that elders don’t understand—it’s that they understand too well: they know how to use experience, authority, and family affection to suppress others, yet they package everything as “all for your own good.” Some family troubles must be brought to light not because the younger generation is unfilial, but because silence often only allows the harm to continue.
