I thought about the restructuring that Boris Cherny mentioned: in the past, hiring full-stack engineers was about saving money; now hiring Prototypers is about saving time—the essence of unbundling roles is to use AI to compress the execution layer, putting the premium on humans in the decision-making layer. Whether the hybrid model can work depends on how sharp the Growers' and Maintainers' instincts are.

CoinWorld news, Boris Cherny, the father of Claude Code, points out that the traditional division of labor between programmers and designers is being dismantled by AI. Future product development will be restructured into five roles: Prototyper, Builder, Sweeper, Grower, and Maintainer. The Claude Code team has already implemented a mixed model that decouples people from roles, allowing team members to freely cross functional boundaries. At different stages of the product lifecycle, the ratio of these five roles directly determines the success or failure of a project. Cherny believes that AI is rapidly taking over the time-consuming tasks of code building and system cleaning, and future human-machine collaboration will usher in a new division of labor.
