South Africa got here in a way and a great way at the same time. They were written off after a 2-0 opening loss to Mexico.. Bafana Bafana drew with Czech Republic and then beat South Korea 1-0 on Thursday. This team knows how to defend and hurt you on the counter. Teboho Mokoena and Oswin Appollis have been great. Ronwen Williams in goal has been one of the best keepers so far.
Canada comes to SoFi Stadium with attacking players but some questions about being consistent. Jonathan David has been great. A hat-trick in the 6-0 Qatar win made him the tournaments top scorer with 3 goals. Alphonso Davies is very fast and hard to catch.. Canada lost their final group game 2-1 to Switzerland.
The prediction market says Canada has a chance to win. South Africa are the underdogs. The key tonight is whether Canada can score early against South Africa. If this is a game with few goals in the second half the pressure shifts to the team defending a lead. South Africa have conceded one goal all tournament.
My prediction. Canada wins 1-0 with Jonathan David scoring in a performance.. South Africa makes it hard and the final 20 minutes are tough for Canada.
