ME AI News, PBS NewsHour reported on a newly established nonprofit initiative called RAISE US, which aims to help workers, businesses, and local economies cope with job displacement caused by the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence. As companies increasingly deploy AI to boost productivity, the report points to growing public concern over permanent unemployment, citing a Reuters/Ipsos survey showing that over 70% of Americans fear AI could lead to long-term job loss. RAISE US's goal is to bring together states, major employers, and AI companies to jointly develop and pilot policies that redeploy affected workers rather than simply laying them off. Proposed measures include tax incentives for companies that retrain and relocate employees to new positions, as well as coordinating programs to identify and scale successful transition strategies. The interview emphasized that as AI transforms industries from manufacturing and logistics to finance and customer service, proactive planning rather than reactive crisis management will be key.
