CertiK: Phishing, Deepfakes, and Supply Chain Attacks May Become the Biggest Crypto Security Threats in 2026

ME News, April 23 (UTC+8), CertiK senior blockchain investigator Natalie Newson pointed out that in 2026, the main security threats in the crypto space will come from real-time deepfakes, phishing, supply chain attacks, and cross-chain vulnerabilities. As of 2026, hackers have caused industry losses of over $600 million, including the Kelp DAO vulnerability incident in April with losses of $293 million and the Drift Protocol theft incident with losses of $280 million, in which North Korean hacker groups are suspected to be involved. Newson warned that the development of AI will make attack methods increasingly complex, with more realistic deepfakes and autonomous attack agents, but AI can also serve as a defensive tool.
