The personal channel will be closed on June 18, and Google is shutting down the old version of the Gemini CLI to strongly push Antigravity.

AIMPACT News, May 20 (UTC+8), according to Beating's monitoring, Google's developer website issued an announcement detailing the timeline for migrating the command-line tool Gemini CLI to Antigravity CLI. Due to a comprehensive change in the underlying framework, individual and free users must manually migrate before June 18, 2026, after which the old version tool will stop responding to requests. This service shutdown mainly affects individual and independent developers. Starting June 18, accounts using Google AI Pro, Ultra, and the personal free version of Gemini Code Assist will be unable to call the old CLI. The Gemini Code Assist plugin for GitHub organizations will also stop accepting new installations on the same day, and API responses will be completely cut off within the following weeks. Google has now published a migration document (antigravity.google/docs/gcli-migration) for reference. Enterprise channels are not affected by the service shutdown: organizations that have purchased Gemini Code Assist licenses can continue to use the old version to ensure the stability of existing services, or directly integrate the new Antigravity CLI into existing projects for trial. If individual or independent developers want to retain access to the old version, they must manually switch to a paid API key. The newly released Antigravity CLI is written in Go, making its response lighter and faster. It fully integrates the old version's Agent Skills, Hooks, and Subagents mechanisms, but its operational logic has completely shifted to background asynchronous processing. Users can run large-scale refactoring or multi-source technical research in parallel in the terminal without locking the current session. At the same time, the new tool shares the same intelligent agent management core with the Antigravity 2.0 desktop version. Whether using the command line or the desktop version, optimizations and changes to the core intelligent agent will be automatically synced and take effect. (Source: BlockBeats)
