🇪🇺 Europol announces it has frozen more than $47 million in cryptocurrencies during a large-scale international operation against infostealers, those malicious software programs designed to steal passwords, cookies, accounts, and crypto wallets.
Operation Endgame notably dismantled the infrastructures of SocGholish, Amadey, and StealC, three families of malware used to infect computers before stealing sensitive data or deploying ransomware.
Investigators seized 326 servers, shut down 142 domains, recovered nearly 27 million stolen credentials, and identified more than 385,000 compromised systems.
In total, nearly 15,000 infected websites were cleaned up. Microsoft states that Amadey and StealC were still linked to more than 140,000 compromised computers worldwide during the first weeks of May.
