$4,000 Gold, Would You Buy the Dip?

The Fed says "possible rate hikes," and gold instantly breaks below $4,000, dropping $1,600 in 5 months—but central banks worldwide are frantically buying.

On January 28, 2026, it was still at an all-time high of $5,600.

Five months later, it's sitting at $4,038, a cumulative drop of over 28%.

First Thing: New Fed Chair's One Sentence Crashed Gold

On June 17, new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh made his first public appearance.

Rates unchanged at 3.50%-3.75%, in line with expectations.

But the dot plot exploded.

Half of the officials said, "In 2026, we may need to raise rates."

Warsh also dropped a line that completely broke gold bulls:

"The committee is clearly and unanimously committed to achieving price stability."

If inflation doesn't come down, I won't cut rates—I might even raise them.

Gold is a zero-yield asset.

The higher the rates, the higher the opportunity cost of holding gold.

This is gold's most fatal vulnerability.

Second Thing: Geopolitical "Peace" Became Gold's Death Knell

Progress in US-Iran talks, ceasefire signals appearing.

The Strait of Hormuz is about to reopen, oil prices falling in response.

Logically, lower oil prices = lower inflation = no need for Fed to raise rates = bullish for gold.

But the market completely ignored this.

Because May CPI hit 4.2%—the highest in 3 years.

Energy prices are just the trigger; core inflation is the real "ghost" the Fed is watching.

Geopolitical tensions easing, safe-haven demand disappears.

Oil prices fall, but core inflation remains.

Positive news is ignored, negative news is amplified.

Third Thing: Investment Banks Flip En Masse, Retail Investors Panic

In the past month, at least 8 major international banks have cut their gold target prices:

Goldman Sachs: Year-end target from $5,400 → $4,900

Deutsche Bank: Q3 $4,300, Q4 $4,800—if the Fed raises rates, could fall to $3,800

JPMorgan: Average price from $5,708 → $5,243

Morgan Stanley: H2 target from $5,700 → $5,200

Gold ETFs continue to see net outflows, with about $2 billion flowing out in May.

Daily Chart Structure:

Clear descending channel, every bounce gets pushed back

Multiple consecutive weekly declines, all moving averages pressing from above

MACD death cross continues, negative value expanding, momentum still bearish

Battle between bulls and bears, you decide

On one side (bears tell stories):

Fed hawkish, possible rate hikes

US Dollar Index strengthening, US Treasury yield at 4.5%

8 investment banks cut target prices

ETF outflows persist

Geopolitical risks cooling

On the other side (bulls speak the truth):

89% of central banks plan to continue buying gold

Central bank gold purchases in 2025 at 863 tons, fourth highest in history

Goldman Sachs still lists gold as its top commodity pick for 2026

RSI oversold; historically, this level has seen decent bounces

De-dollarization long-term trend is irreversible

Key Levels

Resistance above: 4100-4150 → 4300-4400 (confirmation of reversal)

Support below: 3950-3900 → 3800 → 3500

Short-term Short:

Bounce to around 4100-4130 with shrinking volume, go short with light position. Stop loss at 4180-4200.

Target 3950-3900, if broken, look at 3800.

Aggressive Long:

If it holds 3950-4000 + a bullish candle with volume (hammer/bullish engulfing), go long with light position.

Stop loss at 3940. Target 4150-4200.

Spot Long-Term DCA:

Accumulate in batches in the 3900-4000 area, target year-end $4,500+. Keep position size at 5-10% of total capital.

Always keep 30% cash.

If gold drops to $3,800, you can still add positions—that's the true winner.

You ask me whether $4,000 gold is worth buying?

When it was at $5,600, you shouted, "Forever bullish!"

At $4,000, you ask, "Can I still buy?"

Are you an investor, or a gambler chasing the trend?

Gold has dropped 28%, losing $1,600 in 5 months.

But central banks are buying, and Goldman Sachs is still calling for $4,900.

The cruelest truth of this market is:

Every historic pullback, someone shouts, "This time is different."

But every time they shout, history repeats itself—

Only to find you've already cut your position at the bottom.#0成本拿2股SK海力士 ##以太坊基金会重组降本 $BTC $ETH $XAU
