ME News, April 23 (UTC+8), SBF wrote to Judge Lewis Kaplan in New York, announcing the temporary withdrawal of his Rule 33 motion for a new trial. SBF stated that due to the need to focus on answering the judge's questions about whether his lawyers participated in drafting the motion, and believing that a fair trial cannot be obtained before this judge, he decided to withdraw the motion. He plans to reserve the right to resubmit the motion after the direct appeal and the related request for reassignment of the judge are ruled upon. Previously, SBF was sentenced to 25 years in prison for defrauding customers and investors. In the letter, he confirmed that the motion was mainly independently researched and drafted by himself at the Brooklyn prison, with his parents only providing editing suggestions and assistance with printing.
