ME News reports that on May 20 (UTC+8), under an agreement, U.S. tax authorities will be barred from filing lawsuits against Donald Trump, his eldest son, and the Trump Organization, to prevent the president from suing the IRS over a $10 billion lawsuit. The commitment made by the Department of Justice on Tuesday came one day after Trump agreed to settle his lawsuit against the IRS in exchange for the U.S. government launching an $1.8 billion fund to provide relief to victims of so-called “lawfare.” On Monday, the U.S. Department of Justice announced the launch of a fund intended to help those who claim to be victims of unfair investigations and prosecutions by prior administrations, a move that drew strong criticism from Democrats and also prompted skepticism from some Republicans on Capitol Hill. Democratic Senator Patty Murray accused Trump on Tuesday of setting up a “secret fund to line his own pockets and make his friends profit.” Trump said on Monday that he was not involved in setting up the fund and “knows very little about it.” (Source: Foresight News)
