Microsoft Foundry launches managed agent services, providing isolated sandboxes for each session

ME News Report, April 23 (UTC+8), Microsoft Foundry recently announced the release of the managed agent (public preview) within Foundry Agent Service, aimed at addressing the challenges of securely deploying large-scale intelligent agents in enterprise environments. The core of this service is to provide a dedicated, isolated enterprise-grade sandbox environment for each agent session, featuring persistent file systems, built-in identity and governance, and support for any orchestration framework or runtime. Key features include predictable cold start times, support for scaling down to zero (no charges during idle periods) with complete recovery of file system state after restart, virtual machine-isolated automatic session separation, built-in virtual network support, production-ready endpoints, and multi-protocol support. The platform is framework-agnostic, allowing developers to use LangGraph, Microsoft Agent Framework, Claude/OpenAI/GitHub Copilot SDKs, etc., and deploy environments with a single click by defining them via Dockerfile. Also released are Toolbox (public preview) for unified management tools, and Memory (preview) for providing long-term memory capabilities to agents. (Source: InFoQ)
