Gate Proof of Reserves Report March 2026: 122% Coverage, BTC at 147%

Transparency is the new baseline for exchanges. Gate’s March 2026 Proof of Reserves sets the bar higher, with total reserves at 122% and Bitcoin reserves climbing to 147%.

The headline numbers as of March 16, 2026
• Overall reserve ratio: 122% — well above the 100% industry safety threshold • Asset coverage: Nearly 500 user asset types backed 1:1 or higher • Total reserve value: 7.884 billion, verified via zero-knowledge proof and Merkle tree audits
Core asset breakdown
• BTC: User holdings 17,216 BTC. Platform reserves 25,404 BTC. Excess reserve ratio rose from 40.69% to 47.56%, putting the coverage ratio at 147%. • ETH: User assets 358,121 ETH. Platform reserves 439,611 ETH. Excess reserve ratio 22.75%. • USDT: User holdings 1.451 billion. Platform reserves 1.477 billion. Excess reserve ratio 1.79%. • USDC: User holdings 122 million. Platform reserves 134 million. Excess reserve ratio 10.18%. • GUSD: User holdings 108 million. Platform reserves 320 million. Excess reserve ratio 196.50%. • GT and XRP: Both hold strong at 136.84% and 116.54% respectively.
Third-party verification
Blockchain security firm CertiK completed a proof-of-reserves audit for Gate Technology FZE, the Dubai arm, as of December 31, 2025. The audit covered ten major tokens across nine blockchains — BTC, ETH, XRP, DOGE, DOT, ADA, ATOM, BNB, LTC, SOL — and confirmed 100% collateralization in units, not price feeds. Twenty-two reserve wallet addresses were verified through on-chain transactions, with client liabilities hashed into a Merkle tree and matched publicly.

Why it matters for traders
1. Risk buffer: 122% total reserves means Gate holds 22% more than all user liabilities combined. In volatile markets, that surplus is a liquidity moat. 2. BTC lead: At 147%, Bitcoin reserves signal deliberate over-collateralization of the most held asset, reducing run risk. 3. Breadth: Coverage of nearly 500 assets shows reserve discipline extends beyond majors to long-tail tokens. 4. Ranking: RootData transparency rankings placed Gate second globally for liquidity and disclosure metrics in March.
Compliance tailwinds
Gate continues to pair reserve audits with licensing. Gate Technology Ltd secured a Payment Institution license in Malta under PSD2 in February 2026, adding to MiCA authorization and VARA approval in Dubai. Entities now hold registrations or approvals in Malta, Italy, Gibraltar, Bahamas, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, Dubai, and Cyprus.

Gate Square take
Proof of Reserves is no longer a marketing line — it’s table stakes. Gate’s 122% ratio, 147% BTC cover, and CertiK-verified wallet audit give it hard data in a sector where trust is priced daily. For users allocating capital, excess reserves translate to withdrawal confidence when markets stress.
