Golden Finance reports that on June 24th, several Democratic senators in the U.S. Senate wrote to Republican leadership, calling for an "immediate hearing" to investigate the potential links between President Donald Trump's family crypto project World Liberty Financial and investments related to the Abu Dhabi royal family.
According to a previous report by The Wall Street Journal, a fund supported by an Abu Dhabi investment firm from the United Arab Emirates allegedly secretly purchased a 49% stake in the company on the eve of Trump's inauguration in 2025, with a transaction scale of about $500 million, some of which flowed to entities and partners related to the Trump family.
Democratic senators expressed concern in the letter, believing that this investment might be connected to subsequent U.S. policies opening AI chip access to the UAE, and questioned whether it could influence national security decisions.
Signatories include senior lawmakers such as Elizabeth Warren and Ron Wyden.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Congress is advancing the cryptocurrency regulation bill, the Clarity Act, but due to the Trump family's business interests in the crypto industry, the bill faces more resistance in Congress over ethical and conflict-of-interest issues.
