On June 24, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are studying plans to expand their semiconductor cluster investments in the Hunan region (including Gwangju and Jeollanam-do) and Chungcheong region, with the investment scale expected to reach hundreds of trillions of Korean won.

According to business circles on the 23rd, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are coordinating specific details regarding a large-scale regional investment plan, which includes the above content, to be announced at the government-private joint meeting on land and space transformation (balanced national development) hosted by President Yoon Suk-yeol at Cheong Wa Dae at the end of the month.

It is reported that the two companies are considering building both front-end storage semiconductor manufacturing plants and back-end packaging plants within the proposed semiconductor clusters in Hunan and Chungcheong.

Initially, the industry expected Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix to focus their investments on the back-end, but as front-end construction was also included in the discussion, some analysts believe the investment scale could further expand.
Considering that building a semiconductor wafer fab costs at least 60 trillion Korean won, there are opinions that the total investment scale of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix could reach 300 trillion to 400 trillion Korean won.

To discuss specific investment plans and schemes, the president will meet with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong on the 25th. It is reported that the president met with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won on the 19th. #0成本拿2股SK海力士
