Retail investor: I judge how I'm doing by my daily P&L. Green day good, red day bad.

Me: So a 10 year investment gets graded by what it did in 8 hours?
Retail investor: ...when you say it like that it sounds insane.
Me: It is. Daily moves are noise. Grading a long term strategy by today's P&L is like weighing yourself every hour & panicking.
Retail investor: So I'm reacting to nothing?
Me: & that's how you panic sell great companies on a red day. I couldn't tell you what my account did today. I own elite businesses for years & do long duration options only.
Retail investor: So zoom way out?
Me: The people obsessing over daily P&L are the ones who never let anything compound. Think in years, not days.
Don't grade a 10 year plan by what happened in 8 hours...
Daily P&L is noise that scares you out of great companies.
Zoom out. Think in years. Let it actually compound.
