ME News report, June 24 (UTC+8), according to CNBC: as the selection process for the new president of the Atlanta Federal Reserve enters its seventh month, the hiring process is drawing close attention. The public hopes to see how the newly appointed Fed chair, the Fed’s chair—Wallsh—will reshape the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), which is responsible for setting interest rate policy. As Wallsh begins to exert personal influence at the Federal Reserve, the selection process has also changed. Two people familiar with the hiring process said that during former Fed Chair Powell’s tenure, the Federal Reserve had already been scouting candidates for the Atlanta Fed president position. However, in order to allow Wallsh to take the lead in driving this appointment, the selection process was temporarily paused. Because the related search work is still ongoing, both individuals asked to remain anonymous. They said that Michael Faulkender, who previously served as a senior official at the U.S. Treasury Department during President Trump’s administration, was subsequently also added to the list of candidates considered for the Atlanta Fed president role. It is not yet clear whether Faulkender is still among the candidates. (Source: Jinshi)
