Retail investor: I just copy whatever Buffett & the big funds are buying. They know more than me.

Me: You know those filings are delayed like 45 days, right?
Retail investor: ...wait, they're not real time?
Me: Not even close. By the time you see what they bought, the price moved & they might've already sold. You're trading on old news.
Retail investor: So I'm always a step behind?
Me: & you have no clue WHY they bought it. So the second it drops, you panic, because it was never your conviction.
Retail investor: So copying blindly doesn't actually work?
Me: Learn to value companies yourself. I buy great companies for less than they're worth & I know exactly why I'm in every single position.
Don't blindly copy filings that are already 45 days stale...
You can't borrow conviction, & old news isn't an edge.
Learn to value companies yourself & own every decision.
