ME News message, June 23 (UTC+8). Semiconductor industry journalist Tim Culpan, based on industry insiders in his exclusive report on Culpium, reports that since the beginning of this year, TSMC management has instructed the business development and sales teams to look for ways to increase charges. The sources say that after seeing memory chip manufacturers successfully raise their selling prices amid industry upturns, TSMC also wants to share in this round of price-hike benefits. Management has asked the sales team to combine the price increase with TSMC’s technological leadership and value proposition in their communications, emphasizing the competitive advantages brought by its advanced process technology and manufacturing capabilities, thereby paving the way for future price increases across multiple process nodes.

According to what TSMC has disclosed to customers, all advanced process nodes will see price increases, including all process nodes at 7 nanometers and below (more advanced). This means the scope of the price increase has expanded several times compared with what customers had previously been concerned about. Data shows that 3-nanometer process accounted for only 25% of TSMC’s wafer revenue in the first quarter of this year, while the entire advanced process product portfolio accounted for 75% of wafer sales.

It is understood that some price-increase measures have already begun to be implemented; even customers who have not yet officially carried them out have been asked to include a higher cost structure in their purchase orders in advance. As for the specific price increase, it is still difficult to accurately confirm at this time. The data provided by the sources differs, indicating that the magnitude of the price increase may vary depending on the customer, process node, and product category. However, the market generally believes the increase will be in the range of about 5% to 10%.
