Retail investor: Most of my net worth is in my company's stock. I get it at a discount through work.

Me: So your paycheck AND your life savings both ride on one company?
Retail investor: ...yeah, but I believe in where I work.
Me: If that company stumbles, you could lose your job & your nest egg at the same time. Ask anyone who worked at Enron.
Retail investor: Okay, that's a scary thought.
Me: Take the discount, sure. But don't bet your whole future on the one ticker that also signs your checks. Build a base of $VOO & $Q & sell portfolio secured puts on great companies trading below fair value.
Retail investor: So spread the risk off my employer?
Me: Your job is already a bet on that company. Your portfolio shouldn't double down on it that heavy
Don't tie your paycheck & your life savings to the same company...
If it falls, you lose your income & your nest egg at once.
Diversify off your employer & own great companies you picked.
