My Prediction: Germany 2-1 Ecuador
Polymarket odds:
• Ecuador 4.00x / 25% • Draw 4.17x / 24% • Germany 1.89x / 53%
24H volume: $201.12K
This is a much more balanced matchup than the France / England / Portugal games. Ecuador is not an easy opponent. But Germany gets the final word.
Why Germany?
1. Game control: Musiala – Wirtz
Ecuador is very tough and physical in midfield with Moisés Caicedo. But in terms of keeping the ball, Germany is two levels above. Musiala and Wirtz consistently win their one-on-ones in tight spaces. Ecuador runs, Germany plays. After minute 60, that difference shows.
2. Set pieces and aerial play
Ecuador is a physical team but makes mistakes in defensive positioning. Germany has Rüdiger, Tah, Füllkrug, all dominant in the air. Set pieces will be Germany’s clearest scoring weapon.
3. Finishing gap
Ecuador’s biggest problem is the final shot. Enner Valencia is experienced but he is not enough on his own. Germany has Havertz / Füllkrug, Sane, Musiala, 3 to 4 different players who can score. Turning few chances into goals is what decides tournament games.
Why Ecuador scores
Do not underestimate Ecuador. The Caicedo – Pacho line is very athletic, they go straight for goal in transition. Germany’s fullbacks push high, and Estupiñán and Plata create danger with their pace on balls played in behind. Ecuador’s goal comes from a counter attack.
My match scenario
First half is high intensity, physical, close to 0-0.
33’ GOAL 1-0 Germany: Kimmich corner, Rüdiger header.
52’ GOAL 1-1: Caicedo wins the ball, fast counter, Enner Valencia finishes.
71’ GOAL 2-1 Germany: Through ball from Wirtz, Musiala composed inside the box, slots it into the corner.
Ecuador pushes late, but Germany holds the lead.
Score: Germany 2-1 Ecuador
Polymarket strategy
Flat Germany at 1.89x is not bad for a game this balanced. My pick is Germany to win + Both Teams To Score. For a safer play, Over 2.5 goals also makes sense. Ecuador at 4.00x is tempting for an upset hunt, but I am on Germany’s side.
In this game, star quality and tournament experience decide the difference. And that is with Germany.
