Why do some people receive less respect the more sincere they are? Because the issue is often not sincerity, but boundaries. Sincerity is a choice; you can open up or keep it reserved. Overly sincere behavior is often a reflex of not daring to refuse, not daring to conflict, and not daring to protect oneself. When a person continuously gives up boundaries, reveals their cards in advance, and puts others' needs before their own, the cost for others to ask for more will become lower and lower, and the sense of respect will decline accordingly. People’s true reverence has never been for your efforts, but for your boundaries; the root cause of an imbalanced relationship is often not sincerity, but the loss of the ability to protect oneself.
