Early in my crypto journey, I became overconfident after a series of successful trades. I believed I had mastered the market. Every trade seemed easy, and every prediction felt correct.
Then I encountered a highly speculative token that was trending everywhere. Influencers promoted it, traders celebrated it, and social media was flooded with success stories. Without conducting proper research, I invested a significant portion of my portfolio.
For a brief moment, I felt like a genius. The price climbed rapidly, and unrealized profits appeared on my screen. Instead of taking profits or managing risk, greed convinced me to hold for even larger gains.
The market had different plans.
Within days, the token collapsed. My profits disappeared and eventually turned into a substantial loss. I felt disappointed, frustrated, and embarrassed.
Yet that experience transformed my entire approach to investing. I learned that risk management matters more than predictions. I learned that protecting capital is more important than chasing extraordinary returns. Most importantly, I learned that emotions can be a trader's greatest enemy.
Since then, every investment decision I make follows a structured process: research, risk assessment, position sizing, and clear exit strategies.
The money I lost became tuition paid to the market. Expensive, yes—but invaluable.
