American sheriffs have frequently used the Flock license plate system to track ex-girlfriends, with Flock legal officers admitting it is the "most common abuse."

ME News Report, June 23 (UTC+8), the Police Chief of Holiday Hills, Illinois, was arrested on June 18, 2026, and charged with two counts of gross misconduct. Prosecutors allege he used the Flock license plate reading system and state police databases to track six acquaintances, including three ex-girlfriends, and queried the license plates of one ex-boyfriend 140 times (86 times while off duty), over a period of 18 months. At least 18 similar cases across the United States include: the Police Chief of Braselton, Georgia, and the Sheriff of Jerome County, Idaho (over 700 queries of his wife's license plate), all of whom resigned or were arrested. Flock's Chief Legal Officer Dan Haley admitted that the most common misuse of the system is tracking ex-girlfriends. Flock states the system only tracks vehicles, but cases show that vehicles are a means, and people are the targets. 🔗 Read the original article: https://ipvm.com/reports/police-chiefs-track (Source: AiHot)
