Crypto Perspective on the World Cup: The US Meme Coin Surge Was So Smooth!

Many newcomers to the crypto space or those just getting into football probably can’t quite distinguish the skill levels of different teams yet. Here, I use a crypto perspective to categorize some of the current popular teams. Hope it helps you get into the matches faster!
1️⃣ Institutional Holdings (Core Assets, Market Stabilizers)
Spain, France, the Netherlands, England, Brazil — these traditional giants.
Currently performing roughly as expected: Spain is strong in the group stage, the Netherlands and Japan are steady, Brazil is leading Group C. Just like major holdings in BTC/ETH — solid fundamentals, low volatility, few surprises. Fans may criticize, but most likely they’ll survive the group stage and continue “holding” into the knockout rounds.
2️⃣ Leading Coins (Market Consensus + Growth Potential)
Japan, South Korea, Morocco, Argentina (and Nigeria-style teams).
Argentina’s Messi is still shining, Morocco is doing well in Group C, Japan is tied for the top in Group F with the Netherlands, South Korea is second in Group A.
These are the growth leaders or projects with ecosystems/narratives in the crypto world, steadily advancing and easily driven by market consensus.
3️⃣ Old-Timer Coins (Old Coins/Long-term Holdings, Belief + Occasional Explosions)
Germany, Belgium, Croatia, Uruguay.
Germany currently has two wins + 7 goal difference (including a big win over newcomers), like old-timers occasionally shining with past glory; but Belgium has two draws, their form is average; Uruguay is also tangled in Group H.
Typical old-hold mentality: fundamentals are aging, but they cling to their belief, not selling until the very end. Fans call them “old,” but the old-timer holders keep holding.
4️⃣ Meme Coins (Upsets + High Volatility, Most Exciting)
Norway, the US, Scotland — these are the most fitting!
Especially the US: the first team to appear in this World Cup, very much fitting the meme coin profile!
• Group D: First match 4-1 against Paraguay (possibly a new record for most goals in a World Cup game?)
• Second match 2-0 clean victory over Australia
• Two wins, 6 points + 5 goal difference, already locked in first place in the group and advanced to the Round of 32
This move is so meme-like! As the host, everyone expected “just to qualify,” but they took off immediately, smoothly rising and stabilizing.
It’s like a low-market-cap meme coin suddenly driven by narrative, catalysts, and home crowd traffic — a big surge that fuels FOMO, and those who didn’t buy will regret later. Volatility is maxed out, classic meme coin traits — either zero or continue to surge.
Scotland: their first World Cup win in 36 years (1-0 against Haiti), then a 0-1 loss to Morocco — mixed performance, a true meme coin: sometimes stunning, sometimes disappointing.
Norway: likely a big win in the first match (Haaland leading), but their next matches against France/Senegal are still uncertain, also high beta.
Tonight, Argentina, France, and Norway are playing their second group matches. Do you have a favorite team? I actually quite like Norway and the US. I want to see the meme coin turnarounds!
