Golden Finance reports that on June 22nd, Taiko.eth posted the latest update on this security incident on the X platform, stating that the vulnerability and attack risk have been brought under control. We have suspended the L1 cross-chain bridge and ERC20 Vault, and withdrawal functions through these two channels have been completely shut down.
The attacker exploited a flaw in the cross-layer bridge message proof verification mechanism to launch the attack. In the absence of real transaction events on the source chain, the Ethereum mainnet still recognized the forged message credentials, allowing the attacker to initiate false withdrawals and steal assets from the cross-layer bridge and token vaults.
According to current estimates, before we shut down the relevant contracts, the maximum loss from this theft is approximately $1.7 million.
