ME News Report, June 22 (UTC+8), tech giants such as Google, Meta, TikTok, Alibaba, and several crypto companies pledged on Monday to assist in combating illegal wildlife trade by using AI detection and other methods to identify and remove illegal wildlife product transactions on their platforms. These companies represent one-fifth of the global e-commerce market and 90% of global social media users. Companies like Vodafone will utilize AI on the M-Pesa mobile payment platform for anti-money laundering and transaction monitoring. Crypto and payment firms such as PayPal, TRM Labs, Chainalysis, and Luno committed to cutting off related funding flows. A United Nations report states that the illegal wildlife trade generates $23 billion annually, threatening the extinction of approximately 1 million species. (Source: PANews)
