The most terrifying aspect of fatalism is not believing in destiny, but removing oneself from the chain of causality. When a person habitually attributes failure to the era, environment, or others, they gradually fall into "learned helplessness," believing they are powerless before taking action. Of course, the world has rules and limitations, but what truly determines a person's future is not how many restrictions they see, but whether they can still find the variables they can influence. Those who have lost the ability to act believe in fate; those who continue to act participate in fate.
