Why will the world increasingly value character in the future? Not only because AI is narrowing the gap in knowledge and skills, but also because society is entering a period of high uncertainty and high volatility. When growth slows down, opportunities decrease, and risks increase, people become more cautious, and resources will increasingly concentrate on trustworthy individuals. The more prosperous the economy, the more important ability becomes; the more turbulent the economy, the more important credibility becomes. Because in uncertain environments, what people care about most is no longer how much money you can make, but whether you are reliable, responsible, and worth long-term cooperation. When abilities are continuously amplified by technology, and risks are magnified by the times, character, credit, and long-termism will shift from being bonus points to screening criteria. Those who truly stand out in the future are often not the smartest people, but those who can consistently earn others’ trust.
