Anxiety and depression are not necessarily enemies that need to be eradicated; sometimes they are more like the growing pains before cognitive development. When the old worldview can no longer explain reality and old desires cannot satisfy the inner self, people will fall into anxiety; and when the old system of meaning completely fails and new answers have not yet been established, people may enter a state similar to depression. In this process, what truly matters is not to escape pain, but to see through the reasons behind the pain: what desires are driving the anxiety, and what obsessions are causing the suffering. If one can continuously question and confront these issues, there is a chance to reconstruct oneself. Many profound thoughts, philosophies, and wisdom are born from such processes. True growth is not about never experiencing darkness, but about rediscovering one’s own coordinates and direction within the darkness.
