📅 Exactly 15 years ago, on June 19, 2011, three months after its launch, Mt.Gox experienced its first "bug."

Hackers managed to infiltrate its security system, stealing 40,000 BTC.
The site then abruptly shut down, and Mark disappeared for 48 hours... He worked day and night to reopen MtGox as quickly as possible and fix the bugs.
To reassure its investors, he moved 424,242 BTC, worth approximately 170 million dollars in Bitcoin at the time.
He chose the symbolic number 42 in reference to Douglas Adams' science fiction novel, a symbol of geek culture.
"Don't come after me claiming we don't have tokens," declares Mark Karpeles, who wants to prove that Mt.Gox is solvent.
